Tikka Masala Sauce

A rich and creamy Tikka Masala Sauce bursting with aromatic spices, perfect for pairing with grilled chicken or vegetables to create an authentic Indian meal.

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, paprika, and chili powder; cook the spices for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, mix well, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Reduce heat to low and slowly stir in the heavy cream, cooking for another 5 minutes without boiling.
  7. Season with salt to taste and remove from heat.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, marinate chicken in yogurt and spices before adding to the sauce; serve with basmati rice or naan bread.
