mini sausage roll wreaths

These mini sausage roll wreaths are a festive and delicious appetizer featuring flaky puff pastry wrapped around savory sausage filling, perfect for parties and special occasions.

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 250g sausage meat
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the sausage meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, thyme, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into 1-inch wide strips.
  4. Place a small amount of the sausage mixture along one edge of each strip, then roll the pastry over to encase the filling, sealing the edges.
  5. Shape each sausage roll strip into a small wreath shape by connecting the ends and placing on the baking tray.
  6. Brush each wreath with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, serve with a side of mustard or your favorite dipping sauce. These wreaths can be prepared ahead and baked just before serving.
