A quick and flavorful Korean Ground Beef recipe that combines savory, sweet, and umami flavors for an easy weeknight meal.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes.
  2. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked beef in the skillet. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in sliced green onions.
  6. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with toasted sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra depth, serve with steamed vegetables or a fried egg on top for a complete meal.
