  • 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add garlic and ginger; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and chili powder; cook spices for 1 minute.
  4. Add beef cubes and brown them on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Transfer the beef and spice mixture to the slow cooker.
  6. Add diced tomatoes, yogurt, and beef broth; stir to combine.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until beef is tender.
  8. Season with salt to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

Serve with steamed basmati rice or warm naan bread for a complete meal. For a spicier curry, add fresh chopped green chilies during cooking.
