  • 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, grated ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and a pinch of salt. Toss well to coat.
  3. Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix rolled oats, chopped pecans, melted butter, and maple syrup until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and apples are tender.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving warm. Optionally, serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For an extra festive touch, add a handful of dried cranberries to the apple mixture before baking.
