Butter chicken is a rich and creamy Indian dish featuring tender chicken pieces simmered in a spiced tomato and butter sauce, perfect for a comforting meal.

  • 1 lb boneless chicken thighs, cut into pieces
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken with lemon juice, 1 tsp garam masala, and salt. Set aside for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp butter in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger; sauté until golden.
  3. Add tomato puree, remaining spices, and cook the sauce for 10 minutes until thickened.
  4. Add marinated chicken to the sauce and cook for about 15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  5. Stir in heavy cream and remaining butter; simmer for 5 minutes more.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
